For this project we created a series of posters for an event featuring three people or movements united by a common theme or idea. A system was developed to connect the three posters with each other, yet each poster must also communicate the individual contributions made by the person they represent.
The topic I had was Connectors: Three Technological Pioneers, featuring Louis Braille, Hedy Lamarr, and Tim Berners Lee. Each of these people contributed to communication within society in a unique way.
Louis Braille was a French scholar who developed the Braille system, allowing the visually disabled to access the world of written communication.
Hedy Lamarr was an actor and inventor who developed a system of hopping between radio frequencies. This system was intended to be used by the Allies during WWII as a way of bypassing jamming by the enemy, but the concept went on to become an integral part of modern communication.
Tim Berners Lee is a computer scientist and engineer that developed the World Wide Web. By taking the already existing components and combining them he created a system for communication not bound by physical location.
A motion exercise featuring the Hedy Lamarr poster as an on screen advertisement for the event.
